Cookware are kinds of food containers that are found and used in the kitchen, comprising of pots, pans and dishes, that can be used over a stove or gas cooker. Cookware comes in different materials and when you're shopping for one, you should consider the following:
Budget: some cookware are more expensive than other kinds so if you're on a budget, it is wise to buy the best quality you can afford. Cookware are designed to be durable and long lasting so even if it is cheap, it will be well worth it at the end of the day.
Cuisine: the kind of food you will be cooking should also influence your decision on what to buy. If you're doing a lot of frying, it is better to stick to non-stick cookware to ease your frying process and prevent burning of the food or it sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Quantity: buying a lot of cookware does not seem wise, especially if you're staying alone or a small family. Shop right by buying exactly what you need, not a lot of things that you will end up not using.
Another thing to consider is how much you will be cooking. Some cookware begin to look worn when they're over and over again over time and it is usually better to buy the ones you know too much heat won't affect in a terrible way if you're one to cook all the time.
The different types of cookware include:
Copper cookware: copper is everything about cookware that is beautiful. It is a high heat conductor and this means it heats food quickly and adjusts fast and well to changes in temperature. It is high maintenance though, and needs a lot of polishing. It can also react with acidic foods.
Nonstick cookware: nonstick pans are perfect for cooking (frying) eggs and fish, because food does not stick to the bottom of the pot. Although they are perfect for cooking food with less fat, they scratch easily and can't be put into the oven. Because of their qualities though, having one at least in your kitchen, might come in handy.
Stainless steel cookware: this is the most popular because it is very durable, not so expensive and is resistant to scratches. It would also cook any type of food, although it does not cook food evenly. It is also a poor conductor of heat so when you're looking at pots made with stainless steel, go for the ones made with aluminum or copper core.
Cast iron cookware: it is also another type of material that has been available for a very long time. This is because it is highly durable, has great heat retention and is not really expensive. One disadvantage about this particular material is that it needs special care and can easily rust or react to foods. So if you want to wash and dry and just forget about it, you do not need cast iron cookware.
